I love this painting because it feels very whimsical and modern, in how the patches of color sit on one another. These patches are also somewhat ambiguous, the sky contains blues and purples that sometimes shift in relationship depending on the lighting, affecting the spatial relationships in the distant landscape. This is my favorite of all Michael's landscapes, and a joy to own.
