NA (Newberry Archive) numbers are unique identifiers for works on this site, including in-development photographs. Since it is too early to have a definitive chronological picture of Newberry's works, the NA number simply refers to the order in which each work is added to the archive. They are shown beneath the title of the work. In order to access a specific work, use:

www.newberryarchive.com/node/[NA number]

without the brackets. This will immediately take you to the work.

The NA number will be constant throughout the life of the archive. Thus, scholars may use it to identify individual works (or even individual in-development photographs of works).
